The short answer
Every studio-grade reformer we know of will fit through a standard Australian internal doorway while crated, with room to spare.
The real constraints are almost always stair turns, hallway corners and lift depth — not the doorway itself.
Here are the numbers so you can check your own place before ordering anything.

Two things worth knowing. The frame width is not the clear opening — subtract roughly 10 to 15mm for the stops and any door left on its hinges. And homes built before about 1980 frequently run 720mm internal doors, particularly to bedrooms and bathrooms.
If you are converting a spare bedroom into a reformer room in a mid-century house, the 720mm figure is the one that matters.

The Pearl Studio is the narrowest crate at 68cm and clears every standard doorway in Australia, including older 720mm internals (about 2–3cm to spare on older 720mm doors).
The Maple Studio and Pearl Foldable sit at 72–73cm. Against a true 720mm clear opening they do not fit crated — but they fit easily once unboxed, which is what you would do anyway if the crate is the obstacle.
The dimension people forget
Crate length is the one that catches people out, not width.
The Maple Studio crate is 232cm long. The Pearl Studio is 249cm — nearly two and a half metres.
That length has to negotiate:
- The turn at the top or bottom of a staircase. A 2.5m crate needs a landing deep enough to pivot. This is the single most common access problem.
- A hallway corner. Turning 2.5m through a 90-degree corner needs roughly 1.8m of clearance on the diagonal.
- Lift depth. Many apartment lifts are under 2m deep. A 249cm crate will not go in a standard passenger lift standing or lying.
The Pearl Foldable crate is 135cm long, which is why it is the practical answer for apartments, walk-ups and anywhere with a tight stair turn. How it gets there matters as much as where it lives.
How to check your place in five minutes
You need a tape measure and about five minutes.
- Measure the clear opening of every door on the route, with the door open. Note the narrowest.
- Measure the narrowest point of the hallway, including any skirting or radiator.
- At any stair turn or corner, measure the diagonal — corner to opposite wall. This is the number that decides whether a 2.5m crate can pivot.
- If there is a lift, measure its internal depth and door width.
- Check the delivery approach — steps at the entry, gate width, distance from where a truck can legally stop.
If the narrowest point on that route is under 75cm, tell us before you order and we will confirm which model works or arrange to unbox on arrival.
Crated versus uncrated
If the crate does not fit but the machine does, the answer is simple: it gets unboxed outside and carried in. This is routine, and it is what white-glove delivery is for.
It only becomes a genuine problem when the assembled machine cannot make the turn — which, for a 2.4–2.6m frame, is a stair-turn issue rather than a door issue.
